Past Projects

SOIL CONDITIONER / MIXER: This unique equipment developed by Cam-Mac Construction allows for a homogeneous mixture of innoculants, nutrients, moisture and contaminants to be obtained. The soil matrix can be homogenized throughout, thus eliminating the formation of hot spots of contaminants that may or may not be detected by certain sampling methodology.

The metabolic rates of the bacteria under aerobic conditions are approximately 10 times that of the metabolic rates under anaerobic conditions. The soil conditioner/ mixer achieves up to 4 complete air exchanges, as compared to less than 1 air exchange when a bucket is used. The exchange of air ensures that optimum metabolic rates can be obtained, facilitating rapid hydrocarbon degradation throughout the soil matrix.

The Soil Conditioner / Mixer is an internally sealed drive unit, eliminating the need to grease and thus eliminating any potential for further contamination. The drive unit is attached to the excavator by means of a "quick connect" and the hydraulic lines are fitted with "quick couplers", allowing for quick and easy changes from the soil conditioner / mixer to a bucket. The drive unit rotates at 40 RPM in either direction. We have a variety of mixing attachments: Cone shaped "egg beater" for mixing primarily insitu, compact soils; Large "mixer" for mixing primarily loosened soils within a bio cell; Clay cutting tool; Clay mixing tool; Scarifying tool for material such as shale.

The design of the "mixer" attachment is such that soil is pulled from the sides and forced out the bottom when operating in one direction and soil is pulled up from the bottom and pushed out the sides when operating in the reverse direction. The combination of the Soil Conditioner / Mixer, H-BAC 1 and SUR-FACT is an effective means of promoting the biological degradation of hydrocarbons.
